Litter Strewn Piccadilly Gardens

Lib Dem City Centre Cllr Marc Ramsbottom has complained about the disgraceful state of Piccadilly Gardens, after Council cleaning bosses failed to clean up after the first bit of decent weather in the city. Litter and refuse were left uncollected at the end of a busy day on Saturday 30 May 2009, which meant that one of Manchester premier squares looked like a tip, because of discarded litter. Many litter bins were also overflowing making it an embarrassment for visitors.

Cllr Ramsbottom said, "It is disgraceful that Manchester claims to be a world class city, yet the first sign of any decent weather and we can't even clean up the streets properly".

He has made a formal complaint to Labour's Town Hall bosses and asked for a full investigation into the failure to keep our public squares clean at the weekend.
